Hair Care Tips for Colored Hair
Make sure to use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for colored hair. Sulfates can strip away the color and moisture from your hair. Instead, use color safe shampoos and conditioners, to help maintain your hair color between salon visits. For best results, use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to help restore moisture to your hair. Avoid washing your hair too often. Washing your hair every day can cause the color to fade faster. With that being said, use cold or lukewarm water instead of hot water when washing your hair. Hot water can open up the hair cuticles and cause the color to fade faster. Avoid using heat styling tools like flat irons and curling irons as much as possible. If you do use them, use a heat protectant spray and turn down the heat to a lower temperature. Avoid chlorine as much as possible. Chlorine can cause color to fade and can also cause your hair to become dry and brittle. Avoid using harsh hair products that contain alcohol, which can cause your hair to become dry and brittle. Get regular trims every 3-4 months to help keep your hair healthy and prevent split ends.
